Concept
Standing at 23 metres tall the Candle was inspired by the holy and the profane.
The sculpture is situated in the heart of the historical Gloucester docks very close to the cathedral.
The Candle refers to the poem 'Requiem' written by local poet Ivor Gurney (1890–1937) who played organ in the local chapel as well as drawing upon the industrial heritage of the area.

Laser cut and etched cor ten rolled steel.
Internally lit, the sculpture glows from within aiding orientation by day and by night.
